Fat Dissolving

What is Fat Dissolving?

Fat-dissolving injections are a non-surgical treatment that involve injecting a solution into targeted areas of fat, such as the chin. The solution works by breaking down the fat cells, which are then naturally eliminated by the body.

What can I expect?

Fat-dissolving injections are administered through multiple small injections in the treatment area. Your practitioner will mark the place to be treated before treatment. A topical anaesthetic is offered as an option before treatment. Usually, 30 minutes or more is allowed for this to work. Ice can also be applied before each injection for further analgesia. After the injections, an intense burning sensation usually lasts several minutes. Two or more treatments may be required.

Potential Side Effects

Like any medical treatment, fat-dissolving injections come with potential risks and side effects. Some of the most common side effects include swelling, bruising, and redness at the injection site. More severe side effects can include nerve damage, skin ulceration, and scarring. It’s important to discuss any potential risks with a qualified healthcare provider before undergoing treatment. This is definitely not a treatment you want to have done in the hands of an amateur!

Post Treatment

The neck may appear swollen immediately after treatment, and some bleeding or bruising may occur. Over the next few months, the results from the fat-dissolving injections may be seen. Especially since the swelling subsides and the injections begin to work on the fat cells over time. Repeating another treatment in 4 to 6 weeks is safe if needed.
