Eyebrows are an incredibly important feature, with the ability to frame the face, define the eye area and bring out your face’s best qualities. At Skintique, we offer cosmetic brow tattooing, a semi-permanent procedure.

Feather Touch tattooing is perfect for those who wish to achieve a very natural finish. Hair-like strokes of pigment are implanted into the skin and give the appearance of real brow hairs. Brows look naturally shaped and fuller without the “filled in” look.

What is involved in the cosmetic brow tattooing appointment?

The process begins with a complimentary initial consultation, where we discuss the desired look and how it will be achieved. This consultation is very much a two-way conversation, where we will listen, respond and advise. Please note that if we are booking your treatment, you will then be required to fill out a medical history form.

After your initial consultation, we begin to mark out the perfect brow shape for your face using an eyebrow pencil – these can be drawn on and adjusted as many times as necessary, until you are completely comfortable! When mapping out the brow, we aim to reach your desired style while also considering your face shape and features. Once you are well and truly happy to proceed, we select the pigment colour that will best suit your features and skin tone.

We apply a topical anaesthetic to numb the area and to ensure a more comfortable experience. The area is marked with a surgical pen and a semi-permanent pigment is then placed into the upper layer of the dermis with a hand-held tool or a machine, depending on the brow method that you have chosen.

What pigments are used?

Quality and safety were at the forefront of our minds when selecting the perfect pigments for our brow tattoo procedures. All pigments used at Skintique are specifically manufactured for implantation into human skin and have been safely used for over 20 years. Our pigments are imported from a reputable US manufacturer and have been fully tested by authorities to check for safety.

We are committed to finding the ideal colour for each client’s skin tone and features, which is why we have an extensive selection of colours – ranging from very light to very dark. We are also able to mix pigment colours to find the perfect shade for our clients.

How will my brows look following the treatment?

Tattooed brows will always look at their best once the pigment has settled into the skin and the healing process has finished. Immediately after treatment, it is completely normal for the area to appear darker and more intense than initially anticipated.

The brows may also appear to be sharper and thicker than usual. This is a normal part of the process and will only last for a few days. The skin will naturally exfoliate, heal and reveal 40% lighter and softer brows in the 7-10 days following your appointment.

What kind of Aftercare is needed?

To achieve your desired results, it is absolutely vital that you understand and follow our aftercare instructions. The healing process will have a large impact on the overall procedure results, so it is crucial that the brows are given a chance to heal properly. During our tattoo appointments we give all clients a thorough verbal run-down of the aftercare instructions, a detailed information sheet and an aftercare cream.

The top three most crucial aftercare instructions are:

• Makeup and water cannot touch the brows for the 7 days following the procedure (including steam and sweat).
• An aftercare barrier cream is provided and must be applied with a cotton bud 3-4 times daily for the 7 days after your procedure.
• Do not swim in salt or chlorinated water for the 14 days following the procedure.
